FAQs
How do I get to Victoria Park?
Easiest route is Mile End tube (Central or District line) — about a 10-minute walk to the main entrance. Cambridge Heath Overground is also handy and often less busy. Avoid driving — parking near Vicky Park during APE is basically non-existent.
What time do gates open?
Gates typically open around midday. Check your ticket for exact times — they can vary by day. Worth arriving early on Saturday headliner days, queues build up quickly.
Are there good pubs nearby?
Loads! The Sebright Arms on Coate Street is a local favourite. The Eleanor Arms on Old Ford Road is a proper East End boozer. The Crown on Grove Road is right by the park and gets lively pre-show. Most people grab drinks inside the festival though — the bar setup is solid.
Is there a dress code?
No dress code — it's an outdoor festival. Late August can still be warm but bring layers for the evening, and always have a light rain jacket. Comfortable shoes are essential; the park can get muddy if it's been raining.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
No outside alcohol is permitted. Sealed water bottles are usually fine. The food offering inside is genuinely excellent — one of the better festival food lineups in London.
What's the difference between the two weekends?
Both weekends have separate headliners and largely different lineups — it's essentially two distinct festivals sharing the same site and brand. Most people pick their weekend based on which acts they want to see, but die-hards do both!
