FAQs

How do I get to Silverstone by public transport?

Take a train to Milton Keynes Central (Avanti West Coast from London Euston, ~35 mins) or Northampton, then jump on one of the official Silverstone shuttle buses — they run door to circuit throughout the day. Book shuttles in advance on the Silverstone website, they sell out early for race day.

Is parking available and how early should I arrive?

Yes, Silverstone has massive on-site parking but it fills up fast on Saturday and Sunday. Aim to arrive by 7:30–8am on race day if driving. Camping on site (Silverstone Experience campsite) is the stress-free option — you're on circuit from Thursday night.

Which grandstand or area gives the best view?

For sheer speed, the Becketts Complex (GA hill or Becketts grandstand) is incredible — cars go through at 180mph+. For overtaking and strategy, Stowe and Club Corner are brilliant. The Wing Grandstand on the pit straight gives you starts, pit stops and podium atmosphere. GA fans swear by the Maggotts-Becketts hill — it's free roam so you can move around all weekend.

What can I bring into the circuit?

You can bring food and non-alcoholic drinks in a soft-sided bag (no hard coolboxes). Alcohol is not permitted to be brought in. Earplugs are essential and provided free at most entry gates — the cars are genuinely deafening, especially in the grandstands. Flags, banners and inflatables are welcome.

Are there good pubs and places to eat nearby?

The Saracens Head in Towcester and The White Horse in Wappenham are popular pre-race spots. Inside the circuit, there's a huge range of food vendors and licensed bars. Camping gives you access to the infield entertainment village each evening with live music.

What's the schedule across the four days?

Thursday is the Pit Lane Walk — a rare chance to walk the actual pit lane and paddock. Friday has two free practice sessions. Saturday has final practice, then Sprint Qualifying or standard Qualifying. Sunday is race day — lights out is typically around 3pm local time. Check the official F1 schedule for confirmed session times.
