FAQs
How do I get to the Barbican Theatre?
The easiest tube stop is Barbican (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan lines) — it's literally a 2-minute walk. Moorgate is also nearby. From Liverpool Street it's about a 10-minute walk. There's no on-site parking so public transport is your best bet.
What time do doors open?
The Barbican usually opens its doors and bars around 45 minutes before curtain-up. For evening performances that typically means 7pm for a 7:45pm show — worth arriving early to grab a drink and soak up the atmosphere.
Is there a dress code?
No formal dress code at the Barbican — smart casual is totally fine. A lot of fans come in Death Note cosplay or merch for this one, which is absolutely encouraged.
Are there good pubs nearby before the show?
Yes! The Barbican's own bars and terrace are great for pre-show drinks. Just outside, try The Jugged Hare on Chiswell Street or The Viaduct Tavern near St Paul's if you want a classic London pub. The Barbican centre itself also has a restaurant if you fancy dinner.
What is the difference between preview and regular performances?
Preview performances (from 30 July) run before the official press night on 11 August. The show is fully staged and ready — previews are just slightly lower-priced as the production fine-tunes things. Great value if you want to see it early!
Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
Generally yes — Barbican tickets can be transferred between individuals. Just make sure the new ticket holder has the booking confirmation or e-ticket. Check your original booking confirmation for any specific restrictions.
