Grandstand Seats at Burghley are purchased as an add-on to a General Admission ticket. Both elements are required for entry to the grandstand. Sellers should list Grandstand Seat tickets at or below the original face value paid. Buyers will need to ensure they also hold a valid General Admission ticket for the same day. Tickets are typically named and non-transferable via the official box office — please check the terms on your ticket before listing. Peer-to-peer transfers are at the discretion of the buyer and seller and should be handled responsibly.

FAQs

Do I need a General Admission ticket as well as a Grandstand Seat?

Yes — Grandstand Seats are an add-on. You must hold a valid General Admission ticket for the same day to gain entry to Burghley Park, and then your Grandstand ticket gets you to your reserved seat. Make sure you have both before you travel.

How do I get to Burghley House?

By train: Peterborough is on the LNER East Coast Main Line (about 50 mins from King's Cross), then a local train to Stamford takes around 10 minutes. Stamford station is a short walk or taxi ride from the Burghley estate. By car: Stamford is just off the A1, well signposted. Event parking is available on site but books up fast — arrive early or use the park-and-ride.

What's the best pub near Burghley for before or after?

Stamford is a gorgeous Georgian market town with brilliant options. The George of Stamford on St Martin's is a classic coaching inn — perfect for a proper lunch. The Bull & Swan at Burghley (almost on the estate itself) is great for atmosphere. The Crown Hotel on All Saints' Place is another solid choice in the town centre.

Which day should I prioritise if I can only attend one?

For pure drama, the Showjumping Final on Sunday is unmissable — the leaderboard is set and everything is on the line. If you love watching the elegance of dressage up close, Day 2 (Friday) is when the scores tighten and the atmosphere builds. Cross-Country Day (Saturday) doesn't have grandstand seats but is incredible from the course.

What should I wear?

Smart country casual is the vibe — think gilets, chinos, tweed, and good wellies or country boots just in case. It's early September in Lincolnshire, so layer up; mornings can be cool even when afternoons are warm. No strict dress code, but the grandstand crowd tends to dress up a little for the Showjumping Final.

When do gates open?

General Admission gates typically open from around 8:00am. Dressage begins mid-morning (check the official Burghley timetable for the draw order). Showjumping Final usually starts around 11:30am–12:00pm. Arrive early to make the most of the trade stands and warm-up arenas.
