FAQs
How do I get to Burghley House?
By train, take LNER or East Midlands Railway to Peterborough (~50 mins from London King's Cross), then a short connecting train to Stamford (~10 mins) or a taxi. Stamford is about a mile's walk from the showground. There is also on-site parking — follow the AA signs into Stamford.
Is there parking on site?
Yes — Burghley has extensive free parking across the estate. Follow the AA signs from the A1 or surrounding roads. It gets busy on Cross-Country Saturday so aim to arrive early. Campervan and caravan pitches are also available to book in advance.
What does the season ticket cover?
Your season ticket gives you general admission to all four days — Thursday dressage, Friday dressage and shopping, Saturday cross-country, and Sunday showjumping. It does not include grandstand seating, which is booked separately. The advance price is £18 per day (£72 total) if purchased before 30 August.
What is the dress code?
There's no strict dress code — it's an outdoor country event, so smart country casual is the norm. Wellies or walking boots are highly recommended, especially if the ground is soft. Think Barbour, gilets, and layers. The trade stands are brilliant for picking up country clothing too!
Where are the best spots to watch the cross-country?
The Lion Bridge fence and the Leaf Pit are iconic vantage points — get there early on Saturday for a good spot. The water complex always draws a huge crowd too. The cross-country course winds through some of the most beautiful parkland in England, so a wander always pays off.
Are there food and drink options on site?
Absolutely — Burghley has a huge range of food and drink from the trade village, local producers, and catering vans. There's also a licensed bar and plenty of picnic spots across the estate. Many regulars bring a hamper and make a proper day of it.
