FAQs

How do I get to Slessor Gardens?

Dundee train station is about a 10-minute walk along the waterfront — just follow the Tay and you'll hear it before you see it. Trains run regularly from Edinburgh (1hr 20), Aberdeen (1hr 10), and Glasgow (1hr 40 via Perth). Drop off on City Quay and you're basically there.

Is there parking nearby?

There's limited parking at Dundee Waterfront and the Camperdown Park & Ride runs shuttle buses during the festival. Honestly though, the train is far easier — saves you the hassle and you can have a proper drink.

What's the nearest pub or pre-drinks spot?

The Dundee Rep bar is a local favourite, and the Speedwell (known as Mennies) is a Dundee institution on Perth Road if you want proper pre-fest vibes. There are also bars right on the waterfront around Discovery Point that fill up nicely before doors.

What time do doors open?

Typically around 4pm on Friday and midday–1pm on Saturday and Sunday, but check the official Discovery Festival programme for confirmed times each day. Lineups and door times are usually confirmed a few weeks before.

Is there a dress code?

Absolutely not — it's a summer festival on the Tay. That said, July in Dundee can surprise you, so pack a layer just in case. Trainers or wellies both work fine.

Are the tickets day tickets or can I get a weekend pass?

Both are usually available. Day tickets let you pick your favourite lineup day; weekend passes cover all three. List whatever you've got — buyers can request either.
