FAQs
What is the dress code?
Black tie is traditional for the Festival and very much encouraged — it's part of the magic. Many guests wear full evening dress. Smart formal wear is the minimum; jeans and trainers would feel very out of place. For the Autumn Season, smart smart-casual or business attire is more common, though some still dress up.
How do I get there from London?
Trains run from London Bridge or Victoria to Lewes in about an hour (Thameslink or Southern). From Lewes station, Glyndebourne operates a dedicated coach service on performance days — book in advance on the Glyndebourne website. Driving is also popular; there is parking on site. Allow time — country roads around Lewes get busy on big nights.
What happens during the long interval?
Glyndebourne's long interval is legendary — typically 85–90 minutes, giving you time for a proper sit-down picnic on the lawns. Bring your own hamper and champagne, or pre-order from the Glyndebourne catering team. Picnic tables, rugs on the ha-ha, and the walled garden are all fair game. This is genuinely half the point of coming.
What's on in 2026?
The 2026 Festival features Glyndebourne's first-ever production of Puccini's Tosca (the most hotly anticipated tickets of the summer), plus new productions of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos. The Autumn Season opens with Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Rossini's The Barber of Seville, and closes with the popular Christmas Concerts in December.
Can I buy a single ticket or must I book the whole evening?
Single tickets are perfectly normal — you don't need to come as a group. Glyndebourne sells individual seats, and the peer-to-peer exchange works the same way. Just arrive in good time to enjoy the grounds before the performance.
Is there parking on site?
Yes, there is car parking at Glyndebourne, and it's included with your ticket. However, the country lanes can tail-back on Saturday evenings — arriving 90 minutes before curtain-up is wise, which gives you time to set up your picnic properly anyway.

About Glyndebourne 2026 2026
No cancellations, cast changes, venue issues, or schedule disruptions detected as of 15 June 2026. Festival 2026 is actively running per schedule (21 May–30 August 2026), with Tosca live and reviewed, and L'Orfeo having just opened on 14 June. The official Glyndebourne site retains a known internal inconsistency on the Tosca event page listing Gotimer for the second run, but the announcement page summary block and all third-party sources confirm Natalya Romaniw — consistent with the stored profile. No new information requires a profile update.
