Do I have to wear period costume?
It's not compulsory, but it's absolutely encouraged — and most people do! Pre-war to early 1960s dress is the sweet spot. Think tweed jackets, headscarf and overcoat, or full race-day glamour. There are costume hire services in Chichester if you fancy it. You'll feel wonderfully out of place in modern clothes, in the best possible way.
How do I get to Goodwood Motor Circuit?
By train: Southern Rail from London Victoria to Chichester (around 1hr 40min), then official shuttle buses run directly to the circuit gate — allow 20–30 mins for the shuttle. By car: the circuit is just off the A285 north of Chichester. Pre-book your parking pass (it doesn't come with the ticket) — on-site parking fills fast on Saturday. There's also a Park & Ride from Chichester.
What's the best spot to watch the racing?
The chicane on the infield gives you close-up action and overtaking. The old pits straight grandstand is brilliant for starts and finishes. The Lavant corner is a favourite for photographers and serious fans. For atmosphere, hang near the paddock entrance where the cars are pushed out — you can get incredibly close to the machinery.
What's included in a General Admission ticket?
GA gets you access to the circuit, the historic paddock (you can wander among the cars!), the Vintage Village, trade stands, and all the trackside viewing areas. It's brilliant value. Pit Lane Walkabout access is a separate upgrade and sells out well in advance.
Are there good places to eat and drink on site?
Yes — the Vintage Village has proper food stalls, champagne bars, and period-appropriate refreshments. There are also picnic areas if you bring your own hamper (very much encouraged). The queues at peak lunchtime can be long, so either eat early or late.
What are the headline races on Saturday?
Saturday is typically the busiest and most spectacular day of the Revival. Expect multiple feature races including the RAC TT Celebration, the Whitsun Trophy for GT cars, and often a motorcycle race. The full programme is announced closer to the event on the Goodwood website.
