How do I get to Royal Hospital Chelsea?
Sloane Square station (District and Circle lines) is about a 10-minute walk. Follow the signs – you'll see the crowds heading the same way. Alternatively, Victoria or London Bridge stations if you're coming by National Rail, then a bus or taxi to Chelsea.
Is there parking nearby?
Very limited. The RHS strongly advises against driving – Chelsea is one of London's busiest weeks. Use the tube or bus. A few NCP car parks exist in Knightsbridge but it's pricey and slow to get out.
What's the difference between the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions?
Morning is the premium slot – fewer crowds, beautiful soft light on the show gardens, and you get the best pick of the Great Pavilion. Afternoon is busier but full of atmosphere. The evening session is relaxed and often the best for chatting to the garden designers – and the champagne bars get lively.
Can I buy plants on the day?
Yes! The famous 'Chelsea sell-off' happens on Saturday afternoon as the show closes – exhibitors sell their display plants rather than transport them back. It's a Chelsea institution. Arrive Saturday afternoon and bring a big bag.
Is there a dress code?
No official dress code, but people do dress smartly – it's Chelsea, after all. Think garden party chic: summer dresses, blazers, comfortable shoes (you'll walk miles on grass and gravel). Heels are a brave choice.
What's the best pub or place to eat nearby?
The Botanist on Sloane Square is perfect for a pre-show drink. The Pig's Ear on Old Church Street is a great local pub. Inside the show itself, the food and drink offering has improved enormously – there are champagne bars, artisan food stalls, and proper sit-down restaurants, so you can easily make a day of it.
Are RHS member tickets transferable?
No – RHS member tickets are issued in the member's name and are strictly non-transferable. Only standard general admission tickets can be exchanged on this platform.
