FAQs
How do I get to Neston Park without a car?
Jump on a Great Western Railway train to Chippenham from London Paddington (about 1 hr 10 min). WOMAD runs official shuttle buses from Chippenham station straight to the site — check the WOMAD website for timetables closer to the festival. Taxis are also available from Chippenham.
Is there parking on site?
Yes, advance parking passes are available when you buy your ticket. Parking is in designated fields adjacent to the site. Buy your pass in advance — on-the-day parking is not guaranteed and sells out. Consider carpooling to keep things eco-friendly, very much the WOMAD spirit!
Is WOMAD family-friendly?
Absolutely — it's one of the best family festivals in the UK. Under-12s go free with a paying adult, and there are dedicated family camping areas, children's workshops, and world music activities for kids all weekend. Teens (13–17) get a discounted ticket.
What's the camping situation?
Standard camping is included with weekend tickets. There are separate boutique and 'Campervan Plus' areas available as upgrades. Camping opens Wednesday evening so you can get settled in before Thursday kicks off. The site is generally flat and well-organised.
What are the stages?
The main Open Air Stage hosts the big headliners. The Siam Tent, Charlie Gillett Stage, and Arboretum Stage cover everything from Afrobeat to Balkan brass to late-night electronica. The Taste the World area is basically a world food market with live music — don't skip it.
Are there ATMs and card payments on site?
WOMAD is largely cashless — most traders and bars accept contactless and card. There is usually a cashpoint machine on site, but bring a backup card just in case.
What should I bring?
Wellies and a light rain jacket (this is Wiltshire in July — it CAN happen), sunscreen, a reusable water bottle (there are free water points), layers for the late nights, and an open mind. Leave the plastic bags at home — WOMAD is committed to sustainability.
